Detail of task: International management is much more complex than domestic management. Differences in national cultures and differences in political, social and economic systems create considerable challenges for multinationals and their managers to cope with in a foreign country. Therefore, managers need to adapt their managerial styles to fit into local culture if they wish to succeed in the multinational arena. In this assignment, you are required to study the cultural and institutional differences between Australia and a foreign country, and analyse how these differences would affect Australian managers in their managerial practices in that foreign country. You can choose any foreign country based on your interests; however, in order to benefit most from this assignment you are encouraged to choose a country that is relevant to your international work experiences or aspirations, and is culturally distinct to Australia (i.e. which fall within different rather than similar cultural ‘clusters’). You can focus on one or more managerial practices such as decision-making, communication and negotiation, as well as motivating and leading local
employees.
Requirements:
1. You need to provide relevant theories and research to support your arguments.
2. Your analysis should identify some of the complex ways that cross-cultural differences can manifest themselves in the management practices.
3. Identify possible strategies to alleviate or avoid these problems for Australian managers

Instructions to Students
In writing the essay students are expected to analyse the issues involved in the topic, based on their own research and using appropriately cited references. Students are expected to use a wide variety of sources, including refereed journal articles, books, newspapers, and the internet (should be citable references) to develop their arguments. The use of examples to develop and demonstrate an understanding of the topic is expected. The essay should not be a regurgitation of material straight out of the texts or journal articles. The readings should be used in order that students develop their own arguments and insights. Remember to acknowledge your sources throughout the essay, answer the question and stay within the topic area.
Word limit: 2400 words, excluding your reference list
Presentation requirements: It should be written as an essay and should meet normal academic standards of presentation, including:
a) all pages, excluding the cover page, should be numbered;
b) page margins should be 2.54 cm on all four edges and double spaced;
c) Times New Roman font type and font size of 12 points should be used;
d) the essay should be free of typographical and grammatical errors;
f) at least 10 (TEN) references from academic journals must be cited to support your arguments;
g) APA style referencing should be used.
