    1: Airbnb
    Airbnb is a website for people to rent out lodging. Founded in August 2008 and headquartered in San Francisco, California, the company has over 800,000 listings in 33,000 cities and 192 countries. Airbnb has usurped the InterContinental Hotels Group and Hilton Worldwide as the world's largest hotel chain—without owning a single hotel. In September 2014, CEO Brian Chesky poached boutique-hotel pioneer Chip Conley to be its head of global hospitality. Conley has created a baseline nine standards of care for Airbnb hosts to follow. The company is doing a massive rethink on every aspect of the trip experience. "Our goal," Chesky says, "is to teach a million people hospitality." As Frank Kermarrec (Director of Commercial and Brand Portfolio Strategy at IHG) said, “the hotel industry will change dramatically. This is why Airbnb is a real chance for those big hotel corporations: it will force them to think, work and sell differently. Airbnb will force them to move from being only a good professional to becoming a great hotelier.”
     
    2: Hilton Hotels Corporation
    Hilton Hotels Corporation is one of the most internationally recognisable name in the lodging industry. The firm began its operations in 1919 with the Mobley Hotel in Cisco, Texas under the guiding leadership of Conrad Hilton. Poised to break the 3,000 properties mark, with a presence in 78 countries, and with a global workforce over 100,000, Hilton is one of the largest lodging companies in the world today. Despite the highly competitive global lodging business, Hilton keeps striving to improve upon their sales, stock price and overall effectiveness. The company has recently proved to be the fast growing company in the hotel/lodging industry over the world. The senior vice president of Global Distribution Services notes “Our success is going to come down to execution. That’s the reality. We know what the opportunity is, we have the infrastructure and the data, what it comes down to is how effectively executing ‘customer really matter’ initiatives consistently and flawlessly across the network”.
